Safety Coordinator – Midwest Region (S&ME, Inc.)

Join S&ME, Inc. as a Safety Coordinator supporting our Region 3 projects (New Albany, Evansville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Lexington). The position will be based out of our Cincinnati office. This role offers hands-on experience in managing safety programs, working with field teams, and driving real impact in occupational health and environmental performance.

  • Lead and manage the regional HSE program, partnering with regional leadership, Office Principals, and service-line leaders to promote a strong safety culture and drive toward zero incidents.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, policies, and procedures, and implement improvements to enhance performance and achieve HSE objectives.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and produce clear, actionable reports that identify hazards and recommend effective solutions.
  • Build strong working relationships with supervisors and field personnel, coaching employees on safe work practices in compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
  • Support safety training initiatives, facilitate safety meetings, and lead incident and injury/illness investigations with thorough documentation and follow-up.

What You Bring:

  • At least a year of hands-on experience in a construction and/or environmental site safety, or risk management role
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management/Insurance, or related field, a plus
  • OSHA 500, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), and First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certifications are a plus
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA with an emphasis in Construction or Environmental Remediation
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to clients, contractor teams, and other employees of the organization
