Safety Engineer – Mason, OH

Title: Safety Engineer
Type: Direct Hire
Pay: $85,000-$95,000 + 10% bonus (based on company and individual performance)

Job Description:
1st Shift – standard 5x8s

Position Summary
Responsible for developing, administering, and sustaining Company’s safety program in compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies. This individual will be the primary point of contact for all safety issues and incidents, supporting a new line startup while ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, and Company safety policies
Audit operations to confirm safety procedures are followed and supported by leadership
Develop and deliver safety training (new hire orientation, regulatory updates, equipment use)
Act as first responder for accidents and injuries; lead investigations and root cause analysis
Develop and implement corrective actions and prevention measures
Compile, analyze, and report safety statistics to leadership and governing agencies
Conduct facility, equipment, and machinery safety inspections
Oversee testing of air quality, noise, and temperature to ensure regulatory compliance
Partner with HR on Workers’ Compensation and ADA-related matters
Build and sustain a new safety program to support new line startup
Support ISO-based systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 9001)

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering (required), Industrial Hygiene, or related field
5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment
OSHA 30 Certification (required)
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and reporting requirements
Experience building and sustaining safety programs
First Aid/CPR/AED knowledge
Proven incident investigation and root cause analysis experience
Strong communication, training, and presentation skills
Analytical and computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications
New line or startup manufacturing experience
Industrial Engineering background
Chemical manufacturing or chemical safety exposure
“Train-the-trainer” capability
Forward-thinking and innovative mindset
Safety certifications such as:

Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
Certificate in Safety Management
ISO 45001 Certification

Certifications / Standards

ISO 9001 exposure

Compensation
$85,000 – $95,000 base salary
